Old Speckled Hen

We applied a seasonal theme to Old Speckled Hen – the UK’s best-selling premium ale.

The Problem

We were asked by Greene King to develop a limited edition range of packaging for their “Old Speckled Hen” brand, to be named “Old Spooky Hen” in a bid to boost sales over the Halloween period and to appeal to a younger audience.

The Solution

We began the creative process focusing on a wrap covering the entire bottle and also a bespoke pump clip. We aimed to transform the brand into something spook-tacular for the season.

The visual style was extended into other retail formats and marketing promotions. In addition to a bottle wrap and pump clip we created a pump handle sleeve, animated video, trade and consumer advertising, pub decorations and props for a special, spooky tour of the Royal Albert Hall.

Initially produced in 2016, the campaign has been so successful that it has been repeated in 2017 and 2018 too.
